What's included
What is actually included in your home removal?
When you book a home removal with YourVans you are booking a complete service — not just a van. A trained crew arrives at the agreed time, loads everything carefully with protective blankets and delivers it to your new home.
The price covers the crew, the van, the fuel and the drive. There are no add-ons to buy, no packing materials charged separately, no stair charges added on the day. What you see in the quote is what you pay.
Every move includes £50,000 of goods-in-transit cover as standard. If something goes wrong — which is rare — you are covered without having to buy extra insurance.
Get an instant fixed priceThe right van for your home size
From a small van for a studio flat to a 7.5-tonne lorry for a 5-bed house — selected automatically by the quote tool.
A trained two-person crew
Every home removal includes at least two people. Nobody moves a sofa alone and nobody charges you extra for a helper.
£50,000 goods-in-transit cover
Included on every booking as standard. You do not need to buy extra insurance or tick a box at checkout.
Full load and unload at both ends
The crew loads at your old address and unloads at your new one — placing items in the rooms you direct them to.
Protective blankets on every item
Sofas, wardrobes, mattresses — everything goes in the van wrapped. Nothing is stacked loose.
Free cancellation up to 48 hours before
Plans change — cancel or reschedule up to 48 hours before your move at no charge.
How pricing works
How do we price your home removal?
Three things drive the price — volume, distance and van size. That is it. No day-of-week surcharges, no peak-season mark-ups, no fuel charges added at the end.
Three things — and nothing else
Your quote is calculated from three real numbers: the total cubic metres of your belongings, the driving distance between your two postcodes and the van size that fits the job. The inventory tool measures everything automatically as you add items.
- Volume of your belongings in cubic metres
- Driving distance from collection to delivery
- Van size needed to fit everything safely
- Nothing else — ever
No hidden variables
Unlike most removal companies, we do not charge more for Saturdays, bank holidays, summer months or long-distance moves. The same formula applies to every job. A Monday move and a Saturday move cost exactly the same.
- No weekend or bank holiday surcharge
- No peak season mark-up in summer
- No fuel surcharge added at the end
- No stair charge or access fee on the day
What actually happens on moving day?
Most people have never used a removal company before. Here is exactly what to expect from the moment the crew arrives to the moment they leave your new home.
The crew calls 10 minutes before arriving
You will get a call when the van is close. Make sure someone is at the property — we cannot start without access.
Walk-through of the property together
Before anything moves, the crew walks through with you — checking what goes, what stays, any access challenges and where the heavy items are.
Everything wrapped and loaded carefully
Furniture is wrapped in padded blankets, fragile items packed carefully and the van loaded heaviest first so nothing shifts in transit.
Drive to your new address
The crew drives direct. For local moves this is usually 20 to 40 minutes. For long-distance moves the crew leaves early to deliver by early evening.
Unloaded into the rooms you direct
At your new home the crew places everything where you tell them — beds in bedrooms, sofas in the living room. You direct, they carry.
Questions people ask before booking a home removal
We get asked these every week. Honest answers — no sales pitch.
Do I need to disassemble my furniture before the move?
You do not have to — the crew can disassemble most beds, wardrobes and dining tables on the day. If you do it yourself it speeds things up a little but it is never required. Flag larger items in the quote and we will plan the time.
How long does a typical home removal take?
A one-bedroom flat takes two to three hours door to door. A three-bedroom house is usually four to six hours including the drive. Larger four or five-bedroom homes can run a full day. Distance and access make the biggest difference.
What happens if something gets damaged during the move?
Every move includes £50,000 goods-in-transit cover as standard. If something is damaged the claim goes against the policy directly — you do not need to chase us or buy extra insurance.
Can I get a removal on a Saturday or Sunday?
Yes — we work seven days a week including bank holidays. Weekend slots are 10 to 20% pricier than weekdays because demand is higher and they sell out earlier. If you are flexible on dates, a weekday will save you money.
Do you cover moves outside of Newcastle?
Yes — we are a North East operator covering the whole region including Sunderland, Gateshead, Durham, Middlesbrough and Carlisle. For longer moves we handle up to roughly 150 miles as a single-day job. Anywhere further, send us a message.
Will the price change on the day of the move?
Never. The price in your quote is fixed before you book and it does not change on the day — regardless of how long the job takes, how many stairs there are or how far you are from the van. Fixed means fixed.
Where do we move people from?
We cover the whole North East from our base in Jarrow — and we go further for longer moves. Click any city for local pricing and availability.
