Every booking covers the van, the crew, loading, transport and unloading at your new address. Nothing on that list is an optional extra.

The job runs in a set order, and it is the same order on every move. Floor protection goes down before anything is lifted. Wardrobes and bed frames come apart. Heavy furniture loads first, against the bulkhead, and gets strapped. Boxes fill the gaps around it.

At the other end that order runs backwards. Boxes go to the room written on the label. Beds get rebuilt before the crew leaves, so there is somewhere to sleep that night.

Van size is set by the volume on your inventory, not by the number of bedrooms. A Luton van handles most one and two-bed moves. Larger homes usually need a bigger vehicle, or a Luton running twice when the two properties sit close together.

Parking is the job before the job. Newcastle City Council can suspend bays for a removals vehicle, but the application takes time, so start it as soon as your date is fixed. In the controlled parking zones around NE1 and NE2 the short-stay bays are no use to a move, and enforcement around Grey Street and Grainger Street is active.

Quayside and city centre flats need one more phone call. Book the goods lift with your building manager and check the loading bay window. Without that, everything comes through the main entrance and the day stretches by hours.

If your sale and purchase dates do not line up, ask about storage when you get your price, not afterwards. Plans change, and completion dates slip. Cancellation is free, and changing your date is a phone call rather than a penalty.
