Before you touch the sofa — measure everything

Tape measure out. Sofa height, width, depth — write it down. Every doorway: clear opening width and height, including internal doors you forgot existed. Stairwell tightest width and ceiling height at the turn — that is where three-seaters die. Destination room doorway too — moving out is only half the story.

Stand it on end, hook through the opening in a slow arc — two people, one guiding, one carrying weight. Communicate before you lift: "tilt", "hold", "down" — not mid-swing guesses.
